Adverse Childhood Experiences

ACE & Resilience Questionnaire

What’s Your ACE Score?

Your ACE score is a number between 0 and 10 that reflects how many types of adverse childhood experiences — abuse, neglect, and household dysfunction — you encountered before the age of 18. Each type counts as one point. Research shows that higher scores are associated with increased risk for certain physical and mental health conditions in adulthood, and can affect how we grow, relate, and move through the world. This is not a diagnosis, and a high score does not determine your future — people with significant childhood adversity can and do live full and meaningful lives.

What’s Your Resilience Score?

Your resilience score reflects the presence of experiences and relationships that research has shown to be protective — particularly for people who have faced significant adversity in childhood. A higher score suggests more protective factors were present, though even a single consistent and caring relationship in childhood can make a meaningful difference.
